How All Great Things Begin

Last evening, I attended a community meeting in the North Royalton City School District that reminded me of a quote I recently read from author Margaret Wheatly who said: “All great things begin with a conversation between two people.”  On what was a bitter cold and windy night, 200 citizens left the comfort of their homes and spent two-and-a-half hours in North Royalton’s high school cafeteria discussing the devastating impact of losing five straight school bond issues.  During the breakout discussions, instead of playing the blame game, everyone listened carefully and showed a high level of respect for one another’s opinions.  As residents exited the cafeteria, I overheard one person say that he thought it was a great meeting and that something good will come from it.  So, maybe, just maybe, Margaret Wheatly is on to something.  Perhaps all great things can begin with a conversation between two people.
