The Timing of ODE’s ESSA Plan

This morning, I received an update from BASA’s Tom Ash regarding the projected timing of ODE’s release of its proposed plan for the Every Student Succeeds Act.  He reported that a summary ODE’s plan is expected to be released in mid-January.  If this schedule holds up, the full plan should be released in early February. Tom said ODE wants to provide at least four weeks for comments.  Superintendents throughout the state will be reviewing the plan and discussing their recommendations with key stakeholders in their communities. The federal government’s deadline for submitting state ESSA plans has been pushed back from March to April 3.
